78% of websites are invisible to AI. Here are the 15 most common mistakes and how to fix them.

1. Blocking GPTBot in robots.txt

Critical

Most hosting providers and security plugins block GPTBot by default. Check your robots.txt and add "User-agent: GPTBot / Allow: /".

2. Blocking ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot

Critical

Same issue as GPTBot. If you block these bots, Claude and Perplexity can't cite you. Allow anthropic-ai and PerplexityBot.

3. No llms.txt file

High

Without llms.txt, AIs have to guess what your site does. Create an llms.txt file at your domain root describing your business.

4. No FAQ Schema JSON-LD

High

FAQPage schemas are the most citable format for AIs. Add structured Q&A in JSON-LD on your main pages.

5. Unstructured long content

High

AIs prefer short paragraphs (30-50 words) with questions in H2. A 3000-word article without structure is unusable by AI.

6. No author page

Medium

EEAT requires an author page with bio, expertise and photo. Without an identified author, AIs consider your content less trustworthy.

7. No visible legal notices

Medium

Legal notices, terms of service and privacy policy are trust signals. AIs check them to evaluate credibility.

8. No sitemap.xml

Medium

The sitemap helps robots (Google AND AI) discover all your pages. Without a sitemap, some pages remain invisible.

9. No hreflang tags for multilingual sites

Medium

If your site is available in multiple languages, hreflang tags prevent confusion between FR and EN versions.

10. Images without alt attribute

Low

AIs can't "see" your images. The alt attribute describes the image for search engines and AI assistants.

11. No HTTPS

Critical

A site without HTTPS is considered untrustworthy by Google AND AIs. SSL certificate is free with Let's Encrypt.

12. Missing or too long meta description

Medium

Meta description should be 150-160 characters and clearly summarize the page content. AIs use it to understand your page.

13. No Organization Schema

High

Organization schema in JSON-LD tells AIs who you are: name, address, contact, logo. It's a fundamental EEAT signal.

14. Content without sources or references

Medium

AIs prefer to cite content that itself cites sources. Add links to authoritative sources in your articles.

15. Never measuring AI visibility

High

You can't improve what you don't measure. Use a tool like RadarLLM to know your score and track progress.
